UN Demands Investigation into Israeli Airstrike in Northern Lebanon Amid Growing Concerns Over Civilian Casualties

The United Nations has called for a thorough investigation into a deadly Israeli airstrike that took place on October 15 in the village of Aitou, northern Lebanon, claiming the lives of at least 21 people, including 12 women and two children. The strike has raised serious concerns regarding compliance with International Humanitarian Law amid the ongoing conflict in the region.
The devastating airstrike occurred in Aitou, approximately 100 kilometers north of Beirut, targeting a building that housed individuals fleeing the violence from southern Lebanon. He emphasized the necessity of a prompt, independent, and thorough investigation into the incident to ensure accountability and justice for the victims.
