G7 Leaders Condemn Iran's Missile Attack on Israel Amid Rising Tensions

In a coordinated response, President Joe Biden and leaders of the Group of Seven (G7)—comprising Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom—expressed their grave concerns regarding the escalating tensions in the Middle East following Iran’s recent missile strike on Israel. The attack, which occurred on October 1, involved a series of ballistic missiles launched by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), aimed at retaliating for the deaths of members from Hamas, Hezbollah, and the IRGC itself.

In a joint statement released on October 3, the G7 leaders condemned the missile attack as a "serious threat to regional stability." They emphasized their unwavering support for Israel's security while calling for a collective effort to prevent further escalation in the area. "We, the Leaders of the G7, express deep concern over the deteriorating situation in the Middle East and condemn in the strongest terms Iran’s direct military attack against Israel," they stated.

The G7 leaders also denounced Iran's destabilizing actions across the region, particularly through its support for militant groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis. They urged Iran to cease its backing of these armed groups, which have significantly contributed to the unrest in the region.

In light of the current situation, the G7 urged all involved parties to exercise restraint and engage in constructive dialogue to de-escalate tensions. They cautioned against a "dangerous cycle of attacks and retaliation," underscoring the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law.

As tensions continue to rise, the global community watches closely, hoping for a return to stability in the region
