Coast Guard Reopens Key Ports in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina Post-Hurricane Milton
The Coast Guard has officially announced the reopening of several ports in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina following the assessment of safety conditions after Hurricane Milton. This decision comes as relief efforts continue and emergency responders evaluate the damage inflicted by the storm.
Ports Reopening:
In Florida, the following ports have been cleared for operations:
- Key West
- Port Everglades
- Port Miami
- Miami River
In Georgia, both the Brunswick and Savannah ports are now open for vessel movements.
Meanwhile, South Carolina sees the reopening of:
- Charleston
- Georgetown
Additionally, Port Tampa Bay and SeaPort Manatee have resumed operations; however, they are subject to restrictions regarding vessel movements.
Despite these positive developments, numerous ports in Florida remain closed, including St. Petersburg, Fort Myers, Port of Palm Beach, Fort Pierce, Port Canaveral, Jacksonville, and Fernandina. The Coast Guard has stated that federal, state, and local emergency teams are still conducting damage assessments in the affected areas.
