Israeli Airstrikes Target Southern Beirut Amid Escalating Conflict

Israeli military jets have intensified their bombardment across Lebanon, particularly focusing on the southern suburbs of Beirut, including the Ghobeiri area. This escalation follows claims from Israeli officials that over 20 Hezbollah members, including the group's leader Hassan Nasrallah, were killed in recent strikes. The Israeli Prime Minister has warned that the ongoing attacks could potentially displace up to a million residents.

In a grim turn of events, the conflict has also spread to Gaza, where an Israeli airstrike on a school shelter resulted in the deaths of at least four Palestinians and left many others injured. Since the outbreak of hostilities on October 7, the toll in Gaza has reached staggering figures, with over 41,595 fatalities and around 96,251 wounded. Meanwhile, Israel has reported at least 1,139 deaths from the Hamas-led attacks, with more than 200 individuals captured.

The situation remains dire as the Israeli air force has also targeted critical infrastructure in Yemen's Hodeidah, including a power plant and a sea port, further complicating the humanitarian landscape in the region.
